Emercoin together with Business & Technology University based in Tbilisi (BTU) addressed the global issue of fake diplomas and educational certificates. The collaboration between the university and cryptocurrency company shows that blockchain has moved far beyond fintech.
Problems in the educational sector are recognized worldwide and impose risks for industries, businesses, educational institutions, and graduates. They all face the challenge of validating the accuracy and authenticity of educational credentials. Such data is now perceived as an unreliable proof of education due to data manipulation and widespread corruption.
Emercoin developed an innovative blockchain platform “Trusted Diploma” that helps schools to create and share diplomas and other educational certificates in an encrypted app. The records are stored in the blockchain and they are easily verifiable by anyone. Flexibility, user-friendliness, and availability are the main advantages of the new technological solution. All of the above is possible because of Name Value Storage (NVS). The service makes the system more efficient and less expensive to use.
“We are very happy to work with the innovative Emercoin team on this crucially important project. The Trusted Diploma platform will help our school build a secure and immutable database of education certificates, which will help our graduates as they pursue successful careers,” said Mikheil Batiashvili, the BTU university rector (today - Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Georgia).
Graduates looking for a job and employers searching for specialists can obtain the records from colleges, universities, and schools, even if they have been closed. In the future it may change the whole process of professional recruitment, making it faster and decreasing the number of fake diplomas bought and sold worldwide. “We urge everyone to join our effort, which will improve professional services and protect people from dangerous fraud in the health care, legal, real estate and other sectors”, says Kostyantyn Bigus, MP of Emercoin.
